Read today's Bible verse Revelation 21:4 with scriptural guidance: No More Tears, Death, Sorrow, Crying or Pain. Each of us longs for a life without tears or sadness. Adam and Eve created by God in the beginning were placed inside the beautiful Garden of Eden. Sorrow can point an open learner toward greater wisdom. Ecclesiastes 7:19 says, “Wisdom makes one wise person more powerful / than ten rulers in a city.” While laughter can offer many positives, it does not have the same impact as sorrow to cause a person to consider life and grow in wisdom. Sorrow can therefore be better than laughter.
Theirs was a loneliness of sorrow. The shortest verse in the Bible tells us that at the tomb of Lazarus “Jesus wept.” He enters into our sorrows. When we come to Jesus Christ, He does not promise to exempt us from trouble or sorrow. Tears will come, but deep inside there will be a joy that is difficult to explain to you. Sorrow or grief is necessary for discipline, for the development of the finer feelings and higher nature of the soul and spirit (Ecclesiastes 7:3, "Sorrow is better than laughter; for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made glad," margin "better").
